Strength forms the basis of speed, acceleration and injury prevention. The strength programme conditions strength, power, speed, and muscular endurance throughout the competitive season. By continuing to train force production, rate of force development, and overall body resilience, the programme supports sprinting speed, change of direction ability, jumping, and contact tolerance. It also helps maintain tissue capacity and movement efficiency, reducing physical drop-off across the season and allowing the athlete to perform at a consistently high level.
